Every year, it’s the same old thing. Many people create a list of New Year’s Resolutions in an effort to start the year right and to make their lives better. Unfortunately, many of these resolutions don’t get carried out, while some are quickly forgotten. Maybe it’s because we often make unreasonable goals that are difficult to achieve. Or perhaps we’re just being too hard on ourselves.
To correct this, allow me to share with you some practical resolutions that anyone can do. These are guaranteed to make you a better person and spread joy to the people around you:
Have more time for others. In the rush to make more money in these hard times, it’s a sad fact that many people don’t have time for family and friends. This is sad considering that these special people have been with us through thick and thin and hold a special place in our heart. I know that work is important but family should come first. Don’t ignore these people for there may come a time that you’ll be needing their help someday.
Be fit. I don’t have to remind you that being fit means you’ll be having more happy and fruitful years with the people you love. Regular exercise confers more health benefits than other activities. It lowers your risk of some cancers, helps you maintain a healthy weight, lowers blood pressure, improves arthritis, and makes you look and feel better.
Don’t let smoking shorten your life. Quit now before it’s too late. You’ll be doing yourself (and others) a big favor. It’s easy to stop smoking nowadays with several over-the-counter quit-smoking aids. You may have failed before but don’t give up. It’s never too late to quit. Plus, your significant other will appreciate kissing you more once you’ve dropped the habit!
